About Our Class
- Students learn responsibility and organization through a classroom economy that involves applying for real world and classroom jobs such as maintaining our plot in the greenhouse, caring for our worm farm and composting, and growing and selling sprouts so we can care for two children in Cambodia. We are learning many real world job skills as well as experiencing a meaningful context for much of our academic work. This fall we plan to collect and raise Monarch butterflies from caterpillars and then tag and release them in cooperation with Monarch Watch, a conservation group.
- We are learning that we can do hard things, and that doing so is satisfying. One of Mrs. Kaiser's favorite Bible verses is Philippians 1:6: “He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ”. This verse reassures both teachers and students that, while we are all growing and improving, though we make mistakes and fail at times, Jesus will get the job done if we are willing to work with Him.
My greatest joy is watching children become
increasingly able to navigate spiritual, social and academic challenges.
